Story:Since last few months a single scrip named TCI Finance Ltd has vexed me a great deal. From panwalas to corporate honchos all happened to ask me/give gyans about the same.I knew little about the stock, except that its 100crs mcap company quoting at sub 60 bucks. Its already touted to be the next multibagger by some individuals who claim themselves to be the "knowledgeable informed investors" having insider knowledge of some interesting positive developments in the company. As a matter of policy I ignore all tips.Sometimes you lose a good opportunity as in this case;equally, though, you may be among the last to be tipped off. Then,as early buyers offload their stock, you are left holding the baby.I prefer to trust my own judgement no matter I win or loose.I have a particular distrust of rumours relating to promoters stuffs and all.Tci finance to me is a classic example of "hoping against hope".The company has some subsidiaries having several hundreds or even thousands of mega power projects under their belt and according to the tip of those guys immense value would get unlocked in future course of time.An agarwal group holding company making big money for shareholders?Thats like a distant dream folks.Multibaggers would never hang on trees and when retail surrounds the probable one inevitably it becomes a huge flop going forward.Maybe I would be proved wrong, maybe Tci finance would be the next "unitech",maybe agarwal group would eradicate the age-old conception of it being a lethargic/non transparent/dubious group and create huge amount of money.Over the last 9 years what I have learned is,"Indian promoters are not stupid or less intelligent or don’t know how to run their businesses. They are actually a step ahead of other professionally managed companies. They are much more intelligent, savvy and street smart. They know how to negotiate with suppliers for the lowest possible price, how to cut costs and how to siphon off money. Most of them have trusted people or relatives in key strategic posts to prevent pilferage. Even while selling, they know how to negotiate hard to get the highest price. They work hard and make a lot of money but they don’t want to share it with you".Good luck to the shareholders of TCI FINANCE.
